As the New Year begins, I want to firstly
wish all of our members and visitors to this website a prosperous
and fruitful 2008. I hope that this year you will see your
dreams, desires and ambitions take shape and become a reality.
This year promises to be another exciting
one for JCI — a year with new goals, a shared vision and
a strong sense of purpose throughout the organization.
It is important that we all harness that sense
of purpose and, with the commitment and enthusiasm we all
have for JCI, ensure that JCI will Be Better throughout
2008. A new beginning always brings with it new opportunities.
We must seize these opportunities for if we do not, they
will pass us by. We are capable of bringing JCI to new heights
and new audiences.
Let us all re-commit to our mission and grasp
every opportunity to offer the wealth of JCI opportunities
to young people unfamiliar with the jewel that is JCI.
Let us all act to ensure that in 2008 the
JCI flag flies high and proud all over the world as it has
heretofore. On that note, I feel it only appropriate to
once again place on record the appreciation of all of us
to Immediate Past President Scott Greenlee, who led the
organization with distinction and dedication throughout
2007.
We have so much to offer society and those
young active citizens who wish to make a contribution to
better themselves, others and their communities.
It is our duty to ensure that our organization
has an active 2008. We must constantly promote the importance
of Active Citizenship at every opportunity by encouraging
people to involve themselves in our programs and projects.
The treasure trove of projects and programs we possess in
JCI can and will make society better.
I want to ask each and every one of you to
start this year as you mean to go on — with confidence in
JCI, faith in your own ability, and with the believe that
hard work and effort is rewarded. I have no doubt that you
will succeed in implementing your plans for your local or
national organization.
Our job in 2008 is not only to promote JCI
and what it stands for, but also to ensure that at the end
of 2008, when we pass the baton on to those who will follow,
that we have left JCI and those we seek to serve better
than we could ever have imagined.
Happy New Year to one and all!
Graham Hanlon
2008 JCI President
